There's a high-mileage 1997 EVC available on ebay (from Massachusetts), seller wants $9.5K but open to offers. I have no connections to the seller, but would be interested in some parts from this vehicle.
If anyone is considering buying it for parting it out, please let me know.

I have the EVC factory skylight I don't need anymore since I've replaced it with a Fan-tastic vent.
A few people are interested in it, so I'm considering putting in on Ebay so most interested person can get it.
Let me know what do you think.

It's a complete kit including both internal garnish and external pieces and all screws.


 


The rubber seal under the lid is still in great condition and is water-tight.

Show off your projects here! / Installing solar batteries on EVC plastic pop-top roof?

Anyone installed solar batteries on EVC? How did you mount them and where did you run cables to charging controller?
I have about 12 mm clearance at the back of the van to garage door frame and that doesn't leave me much of the choice. Panels needs to be very flat and preferably light. I have found some bendable/flexible 100W panels on Amazon and thinking of mounting three of them serially. My charging controller is MorningStar which is MPPT type and supports input upto 150V.

I'm thinking on gluing some aluminum square tubes to rain gutters and use them as supporting rails for the panels.
Putting panels across the roof should give sufficient space to install three or even four panel.

Exterior / Which awning to get for EVC?

Looking to get an awning for 2001 EVC. Any recommendations?
I've heard that Fiamma F45S is quite popular... Does anyone have a good quality pictures of Fiamma installed on EVC? What length would fit EVC better? How does it hold on windy days?

I don't think I need automatic, manual-operated one would do.

VR6 Engine tech / High-output alternator

I would like to replace my stock OEM Bosch alternator (VW P/N 021 903 025 T rated @ 120A max) with some high-output one which would produce at least 200A at cruising RPM's when hot.  It also needs to be able to produce around 50A at idle RPM's to power headlight, fan, A/C and radio while sitting in traffic.

Unfortunately,  there're no OEM VW/Bosch models in existence to meet these requirements. There're some companies around which re-sell or re-work alternators as "high-output" ones for premium prices. I've tried to contact the following ones:

- Mechman
- DC power
- Mike Singer
- Quality power

and found out that they either not interested in making one for VW/VR6 (since there's no high demand for this particular model), or just plain scam artists like Mechman.

Did anyone successfully replaced their VW/Bosch alternator with a third party unit capable of producing 200A?
