Title: Name and/or Part Number for Rear Hatch/Tailgate Black Molded Plastic Protector
Post by: Marc on October 27, 2015, 07:36:58 am
Hi, we have a 2002 Eurovan. Does anyone have the name and/or part number for the black molded plastic piece on the floor of the rear hatch/tailgate just inside the rubber weatherstrip? It can be seen here (not the bumper adhesive strip that's being advertised, but the black molded piece seen just above it): http://www.eurocampers.com/assets/images/46245c.jpg (http://www.eurocampers.com/assets/images/46245c.jpg) . I've also attached the image.

Hi, I'm not sure it's #701803717B since it's a small ~foot-long black molded piece which I suspect should not cost ~$200 ($185.04 at 1stvwparts.com or $219.71 at http://www.busdepot.com/701803717b) ??

What we think its worth and what they (VW) want to charge for it are far apart from one another.  ;D

There is a another part here - looks about a foot- that's an apron reinforcement: 701827263A -- but it's not in the picture you've attached.

I've found that almost all VW parts will have a part number on them somewhere. On a trim piece -- it will be on the attachment side. You can start there too.

I've had way too many of these laying around :o

Out of pure laziness I tossed one in the trash can a few days ago(I've been moving and prepping a house for rental for the last 35 days :o.

I'm planning on going back there today. If its still in there I can yank it out. Just cover shipping, gas and an expensive latte and its yours ;)
