Just curious what everybody is running for engine oil. I have a 1999 EV weekender and have been using Mobil1 0w40, I may run the Mobil1 5w40 next. I have a big adventure planned later this month from the UP of Michigan to Florida. Just starting to get the van ready and the oil change is due soon.
Thanks!
Neil.

Neil!

I have a 1999 MV and I live in the Denver area. I run 0w40 in the fall/winter months, and 5w40 in the summer/spring. The first number is the protection value at startup, the smaller the number the better in colder weather, so the zero weight is much better in the cold at protecting the engine on startup. This mix has served me very well in Colorado over the past 8 years of Eurovan ownership.

Did you have to replace the tensioner and the belt?

I had to replace mine on my 1999 Eurovan 12v VR6 2 years ago. The only place I could find one was from the dealership, paid around $500 for it. I had tried and failed to weld up the cracked tubes at the header on the old pipes. The exhaust was seeping into the passenger compartment so I had to bite the bullet and replace that part.

These vans are only getting older, and parts more expensive. Pretty soon you won't be able to find those down pipes. I am having major engine problems with my van now, not sure how much it is going to cost me this time.

Good luck,

Andy
