A vinyl wrapped door card and dash would be sweet. The door cards I have seen done online, but not the dash.

Shiny things you no longer want / Re: Parting Out: 2003 Eurovan MV

One item from this vintage of van that I think is worth getting out is the steering wheel position sensor/clockspring. These things are pricey as hell and from what I found in my experience is the can/will fail.

If you have it (and it works) - please let me know.

Sure do. I'll send you a PM.

i prefer mine naked and leave it off -- seeing the pillars is much more bus like in my opinion.

General Discussion / Re: change or not- trans fluid in high milage 2002
« on: February 03, 2017, 01:41:03 pm »
I don't know about thinning it out -- were you thinking of using another spec of tran oil?

If it were mine, I would do it and the ATF filter -- to "zero" the age of all the fluids you can - oil, coolant, ATF.  Start a new maintenance log from that and track your changes.

When the fluid is drained from the transmission - you might as well inspect the gasket/ring seal on the multi-function/range switch connector -- mine suffered a slow leak from this.

Show off your projects here! / Re: '99 EV GLS Camping Rig
« on: October 14, 2016, 03:25:52 pm »
Cool stuff here!

3 cheers for GLS campers!  :D

I have a GLS 'camper' as well -- using the MV bench bed and its been great. I tore out the carpet and put down a rubber/plywood floor and longer seat mounting bolts so it can be a 7 seater still.

I hung an ARB awning off my roof rack system too - works good. I had a pair of "ARB" brackets -- total beef overkill for the awning. Thetford porta potty (for the kids), a cooler and camping stove -- all packed raw (no cabinet enclosure) -- but all tied down well with lots of room. Swivel seat on the passenger side -- pocket storage thingy on the drivers side. I miss having the weekender table - but that is an easy thing to substitute with a fold out table (or tv dinner tray).

And when we're done camping -- I put the middle seats in and she's back to a 7 seat hauler! Super utility!

Yes, I'm still looking for the auto shifter handle.  Let me know about $ & location/shipping.

I have one to part-it-forward. Free if you pay the postage.

I met up with itsamoto last week in Vancouver and he very kindly installed my new cubby for me. I love it! They are very cool - highly recommended.

Right on -- it's my pleasure to help.

Has anyone upgraded their entire eurovan dash to the 03 style to run an mk4 cluster? My 97 square style is looking really dated

Inscribed with just two thumbs...

I'm pretty certain our friends across the pond do this  -- google VW T4 blue clock conversion. It's all in the semantics  -  calling them "blue clocks".  :D

Thanks, Itsamoto. In case you are replacing the old water pump in Lucille, which brand you will be using as a replacement? It looks like VAG don't stock new EuroVan water pumps in the US anymore (original P/N 021121004A), all they have are re-manufactured ones (P/N 021121004X) according to local VW dealer. Not sure if it's the same in Canada, thou. I feel abit hesitant of using a re-manufactured part, but quality of aftermarket (Hepa, Febi, Meyle, Graft, etc) makes me worry.

This GEBA one might fit the bill: http://www.urotuning.com/Water-Pump-24v-VR6-p/022121011.htm

A rebuilt one can't be all that bad though -- which means there must be a non-destructive method to replacing the bearing. Something worth figuring out. I'm in the metal impeller camp though -- having seen how easily the plastic impeller fins break.
