That was exactly the help I needed.  I think I've found a slightly better way.  I bought one of these.

I'll snip off the blue connector and wire in an H4 adapter, and then run the halos into the parking lights.

After a couple weeks of waiting, my lights came in.  While bolting them in is simple, they seem to have a different connector than the OEM lights.  The OEM lights have an external 3 prong connector.  However the aftermarket light has a slightly different connector.  Specifically it has a 4 prong connector.  Any thoughts?

I get a distinct squeak/rattle from the popup. Pushing up in the roof while driving quiets it down. Any solutions?

I started looking at the fuses today.  Strangely my VW book that came with the car has a slightly different fuse panel layout than I actually have.

Horn: The fuse was blown but when I replaced it, no dice.  Doing a bit of googling (actually Bing'ing) I came across a few thread discussing relays. Apparently the horn is a #53 relay in spot 11.  I don't really know what this means.  I don't actually know what a relay does here, though I take it it's related to the sort switch.

Seat heat:  I disconnected the passenger side heater. Using a multimeter, I tested for power.  Now I'm no electrician, but I was surprised when the meter read 0.93.  Is that, volts or amps? Switching the red/black read -0.9 or so, so I'm assuming it's volts.  When adjusting the switch to 0, the meter read 0.0 as well.  So the switch does something t least.

Mirrors: No progress.   I'll take a look at the wiring harness another time.

And done! 0.75" life (Thanks Cole). Fox Shocks. Torsion bars adjusted. BGF AT KO2's LT215/65R16 on stock wheels.

I could have gone bigger but I didn't want the van too high.  The tires are a bit loud, but the shocks and leveling of the van are very noticeable (in a positive way)!

My next project is to quiet down the interior a bit.  I thought we could use a topic on quieting rattles.  I don't have any suggestions yet, but I'll be tearing down my doors today to see what I can find.

Luke,

I'm in Seattle and about 1 week behind you. I'm waiting on my lifts. My fronts are 1/2 in stalled and I'll do the rears tomorrow.  I didn't want a much bigger tire so I bought the BFG's 215/65/R16 from Tire Rack.  I'll let you know where I get mine installed (or where I fail to do so). As for them being thin?  At least on my weekender it has a sticker that says it's rated for 205/60/r16's.  I think 215's will be fine.

I wonder, maybe you could just bring the wheels in and have them mounted and balanced without installation?

PS - Tire rack is awesome.  My tires took less than 36 hours from time of order until they were on my doorstep.

I just ordered a set.  Question for you, where do you plan to mount the remote reservoirs? One where the reservoir is tied to the body:

And one where they are screwed to the wheel well.

What size spacers did you use?  I'm between the BFGs and the Geolanders.  Hmm. . .

Thanks.  I ordered a set yesterday.  Now I need to figure out spacers and tires.  It turns out I'm going to be doing this myself.  I called a local shop about installing things.  They quoted me 12 hours labor for installation of tires, shocks, spacers and a 4 wheel alignment.  They also want to charge me extra since I already have the parts.  All up it was $1800 which seems crazy.  So I'll be buying a good jack, some stands and a few other tools.  With me luck.

Tires and wheels! / Re: The ultimate tire and wheel guide thread!
« on: February 20, 2016, 04:47:18 pm »
I'm looking at tires.  I'd like a little bit larger tire, but not so big as to have to trim the wheel wells.  I also don't want to replace the stock wheels if I can.Right now I'm looking at the Geolanders in 235/65/R16 or BFG AT KO2's in 215/65/R16.

Two questions.  1) Anyone have comments about which is better? 2) If I need to put in spacers, can I get away with 0.75"? Or do I need 1.5"?  I'd prefer to avoid raising the van too high as I want to continue parking in a low garage.

Thanks.
