Yes clock it so the outlet is facing down then run your ic pipes on the tbelt side to the front.

Anything is possible! Best to confirm before install even if that means separating the Trans/eng.

The release guide is bolted to the area around the input shaft seal but its function isn't a "cover" for the input shaft seal per se, only to center/guide the release bearing along its throw.  If you need to R&R the input shaft seal you need to remove this guide first.

Scroll down about 2/3rds on this post on my blog and you will find more info on the pedal mods (T4/A3 hybrid pedal, etc) I spoke about above:
http://greaseworks.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2012-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&updated-max=2013-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&max-results=22

I know I've posted other pedal pot installs on my blog over the years so if you want to spend some time going through the archives I'm sure you'll find some helpful info.

Viel spaß!

The general rule of thumb on VWs with aluminum alloy heads and pistons is to keep it below 1250* F max pre-turbine.  This is considered a safe max temp. Post turbine #s are too variable and not recommended.

That's true good point. But my main point is still valid: it's important to size the turbo to the size of the vehicle/eng. True I've never run a k03 turbo on a 5cyl gas EV but I'm just offering what I do know well and have real world experience with to hopefully help steer the consideration in a way that minimizes wheel spinning fantasy and maximizes power to the wheels actualization :-).

EGTs should be at the top of anybodies list of concerns entering turbo land and especially when considering turbo charging a formally normally aspirated eng.

Ok maybe it's in the eng compartment on an AHU Jetta then, not a B4 Passat I know I've removed it from that location here in the US.  What I've found to be the best solution is to remove the T4 pedal and cut it and then weld on the business end of the Mk3/B4 pedal.  Then you have the correct length and stock pedal action and just need to mount the pot to the pedal cluster.  There are lots of options here, even some convenient holes/studs that can be utilized, but it's a custom job every time.  When setting up just make sure you get 0% throttle position at rest and 100% at fully depressed (measured with VCDS, measuring blocks group 2 IIRC).

Interesting idea but if the pedal pot goes there where will your coolant reservoir go?  IIRC on B4 Passats the pedal pot is located in the engine bay, near the battery and connected to the pedal via a short run of cable.  If you take out the instrument cluster and all the lower steering column trim and knee bumper the access to the "normal" pot location isn't as bad as on a Mk3 Jetta.  You can access it from above and below with the cluster removed.

Well theoretically yes but Ive never seen that. Perhaps it was a military or ambulance model option in Europe. I'll investigate and report back. The locker control panel has a slot/light for both a decoupler and a frt locker knob but this may be an artifact from the T3 days.

I've used the K03 turbos on a variety of off stock applications (Vanagon/Eurovan) at a variety of power levels with 4cyl AHU/1Z engines and the limiting factor that you quickly run into is high EGTs at higher loads/revs. In fact even the common upgraded version of this turbo the K03/04 hybrid is still limiting with regards to egts when under load.

They do work quite well on the vehicles they came stock on, but keep in mind the extra weight and aerodynamics of the EV.

Realistically how often are folks running their VR6 engines at the rpm range where they reach peak hp? Iirc this is around 4500rpm and the TCM won't let you spend much time up that high. Best to look at the VR6 power band graph for real world power #s.

The S7 is a nice balance btwn high and low rev output. The 17/22 is hands down better on the high rev end (i.e. Mountain passes, highway passing, towing etc) but is a lil slow spooling up around town for my liking. With a heavy rig like the EV you want to have power on demand right when you want it.

The stock K03 is great in this Dept but can't keep up with air volume needs above 2800rpm so EGTs get to be a problem.  The vnt-15 does a better job, the vnt-17 a little mo better, and the S7 the best IMO.
