Diesel Swap Tech and FAQ / Re: Anyone running a VNT turbo?
« on: November 11, 2015, 11:38:41 am »
Yes I'm running an S7 vnt turbo on my AHU EV. Formerly I had on this same eng a vnt 17/22 hybrid and on other EVs ive used vnt15s and one vnt 17. Best solution in terms of cost and effort is to pony up for the Kerma SS oil supply line and the correct oe return line depending on the turbo used. Gets real close to $200 by the end of the project--peanuts in the grand scope of this kind of project.

Winnebago "Full Campers" / Re: Cavevan Lift Spacer/ New Tires

Just an FYI, at the upper end of the front lift range I've twice had cv joint boots separating from the joints and creating a royal mess (once on my personal van).  I've since opted to lower mine about 1.5" to get back within a comfortable operational range.

VR6 Engine tech / Re: 2002 EV - Oil pressure alarm issue

First Dx step should be to hook up a mech oil pressure gauge and see what the pressure is btwn 1700-1800 rpm. Verify that it is within the spec outlined in the Bentley before throwing parts at it.

Best wishes,
Justin

Here is the trumpet O-ring p/n: 098321183.  For reference it is 85x2.5mm.

Best,
Justin

You must gently but firmly beat the arm off the Trans housing. There is a strike pad built into the trumpet arm for this purpose. Just be smart and use a deadblow or other rubber malet, no steel!

Thanks Rob. Btw I brought you back something from Germany and have been meaning to get in touch with you.

I'm back east visiting family until October 6 but please swing by the shop sometime after that.

Cheers,
Justin

FYI you don't need a complete pedal set to do a manual / Syncro conversion. Just the clutch pedal itself and the longer pivot pin found on the manual 5-spd models are all that is required in this dept. This reduces your time by at least 1/4.

Yeah keep dreaming! That price does include 19% VAT tax. Still very expensive yes, but this is the highest trim model so is quite luxurious.

You're welcome. Study up T4 TDI and Syncro dreamers! It's all in there in vivid detail.

It's been a mostly a fun number of years charting new ground in the TDI conversion world especially T4s. It just takes one bad apple as they say....  in the end the tragic story ends well, for me anyway.

I just opened this up to the public a few weeks ago:
http://greaseworks.blogspot.com

I have over 5-yrs of TDI T3 and T4 builds covered via pics and text on there, so if you are looking for information and pics on doing a TDI conversion give this a perusal.

The tracks probably could use a good cleaning and lube.

Diesel Swap Tech and FAQ / Re: EWB Transmission mounting
« on: August 16, 2015, 12:04:07 am »
The early 93 EV models had a separate bracket from the mount that bolts to the frame in a different spot than the later ones. I've only seen this 1-2x in the shop, so it is rather rare and only found on the earliest models like I said.

I can't remember if the frame provision (mounting ears) for the later style mount and pendulum mount is there on those early models or not, I'd have to have one in front of me to verify.
