Inline 5cyl Petrol engine tech / Repair for anything on van! Steps
« on: December 05, 2015, 11:01:34 am »
Just wanted to start a topic on repairing things on your van! Steps would be awesome with pics! Advice, thoughts, and wisdom!

Ill start with doing sway bar links!

Step 1: Jack vehicle up and block properly.
Step 2: Remove Wheel
Step 3: Jack lower control arm up to release tension/ pressure on link/shock bolt.
Step 4: Remove 21mm nut off of lower control arm bolt for link/shock bolt.
Step 5: Press Bolt out of lower control arm to release shock and Link.
Step 6: Spray lubricant on bushing of sway bar link to help it slide off easier, i used wd-40 and it worked great.
Step 7: This can be tricky, but pull or wiggle link off of bar. The bar has a groove where the bushing sits in, and it can be hard to get past that.
Step 8: Lubricate new link bushing and press on, no tool was needed, it slid on pretty easy with even force from your hand.
Step 9: Reinstall Bolt to lower control arm
Step 10: Slide shock onto bolt and tighten nut, cant remember the torque.. sorry
Step 11: reinstall wheel, tighten lugs and go for a ride!

Sounds good. I just ordered new sway- bar links so, when they arrive ill post a step by step, with pictures.

Just did my upper ball joints today, and the first one was a real pain, took more than a couple hours just to figure everything out and go to the store to get different pullers and presses. Would have loved a step by step with pictures, and i know thats a lot to ask, but with ball joints(upper and lower) people probably want to change themselves cause dealerships charge a bunch, same with tie rods, sway bar links, bushings and other misc suspension and handling parts. So just thought id ask if people want to have a new thread started?

Yup! I paid only $100 for it, and here it is all installed and testing lights.

Wondering if I should keep my hella lights on the bumper, is it overkill, does it look good? Any thoughts?
And the hella lights are just sitting there for the picture.

Inline 5cyl Petrol engine tech / Coolant temp problem affecting idle
« on: September 13, 2015, 09:23:04 am »
Well let me start by saying i have a digital temp gauge. In the morning when i go to start the van, when the coolant temp is below 80 degrees it starts up and idles very rough and low rpms and takes it maybe 5 min before idling normally. But if the temp is 80 or above it starts right up fine and doesnt have any problems idling..
Any thoughts?

Exterior / Eurovan/vw t4 Bull Bar or brush gaurd....?
« on: September 03, 2015, 08:56:42 pm »
Has anyone had or found a bull bar or brush gaurd that fits the eurovan that you dont have to buy from europe? ve heard some jeep bull bars fit nicely with a bracket made. Any thoughts? I Already have 2 hella lights on the front bumper and just got 2 more free and think it would look sick on bull bar or brush gaurd, even though i dont have a syncro.

i had the original till 187,000, then changed it, drove it 15,000 more miles and it just went out yesterday, thankfully it was a lifetime at autozone.... that could also be the problem haha its a autozone part not oem.

This is my 2nd ignition coil in 15,000miles dont know if thats a normal amount of time for one to go bad. But always have heard that eurovans go through them quickly. Just wandering if anyone knows why?
