Want to buy something? / Long Nose Lower Grille
« on: February 08, 2016, 09:35:39 am »
I need a lower grille for a '99 I'm working on. I have circled the piece in the attached picture. That is not a picture of the one I'm actually working on, just a picture I had available that clearly shows the piece. I don't have or need one with holes for the headlight sprays. Thanks!

I finally looked into this over the weekend. Just in case anyone else runs into the same problem, it was super easy to fix. Stop reading and just get out there and fix it! :-)
Okay, since you are still here, it was simply the mounting bolt in the middle of the regulator that had fallen out. It was in the bottom of the door. Put that back in lubed up the regulator for good measure and put the door panel back on. I said it was easy, now go fix it! :-)

Perfect!

I'm really tempted to put a yellow one on the second blue van I'm working on. I'm currently trying to find some blue/yellow plaid material for the curtains. Do you have a scrap piece of the yellow that I can try to match?

That does look pretty good. How did you get the matched bedliner? Just ask the supplier to match paint code?

Interior! / Driver's window won't go up
« on: January 14, 2016, 06:45:30 pm »
The driver's window on our '99 will go up, get tight, and go back down. It's rocking forward in the channel and not going straight up. I got it up through a lot of playing with the switch and manually pulling the window back once in a while.

Anyone had this issue and know what's going on? New regulator time? I can't remember if there are other wear items in there or not. I'd rather have the parts on hand to fix it when I take the panel off if possible so I thought it was worth an ask. Thanks in advance!

Shiny things you no longer want / 12v VR6
« on: January 07, 2016, 11:12:04 am »
I have a '99 Eurovan that is going diesel. I don't need the VR6. It's still in the van so you can hear it run. Located in Lebanon, OR.  $800 Thanks!

A few more pictures of the trip.

If my memory is correct, there is a seal where the axle comes out and an oring where it mates with the transmission case. I don't think there are any gaskets in there.

Winnebago "Full Campers" / Re: EVC sliding door window?

The weekender, mv, and gls window bolts in to the door as a unit. Not sure if that helps but I was surprised when I found that out. Unfortunately, I've had to replace one on our van. I still have the frame from the broken window I could get measurements from if that would help.

I'll make an educated guess and say that the door is the same dimensions but the window is not. I believe the Full Campers were made from panel vans and the windows were cut into doors that originally didn't have windows. The window seal is a different style between the two.

Diesel Swap Tech and FAQ / Re: POLL: Diesel-gate and your tdi conversion

As I understand it, "diesel gate" doesn't even affect the engines typically used in a Eurovan.

I just did this last night. Pretty much what Justin said. I used a rubber mallet. I find it easier to remove the axle/flange first and leave the housing on the gearbox case. I used the flange that the CV bolts to as the point to hammer on with the rubber mallet. Once the axle is removed, the housing comes off a bit easier. Again, just the rubber mallet to get the housing off also.

That scared me for a long time also. This trip forced me to get over it. We needed the room in the basket to make the trip happen. :-)
