Interior! / Re: Show us your stereo!
« on: September 13, 2015, 03:28:12 pm »
My MV came with a stereo that worked fine- but the stupid little buttons were way too small and I could never see them (Old)

I like knobs for the usual stuff.

Someone pointed this one out and I've been quite happy with it.
Has a SD card reader, a rear and front USB that reads the phones quite well.
Plus Bluetooth for music and/or phone.

All of it works quite well.
Plus not a lot of money at all!

it won't win any stereo competitions- (ha) but the car is noisy enough that it sounds good enough.

I have not wired up the two USB outlets on the left yet.
In fact I had one failed one so need to get more)

Interior! / 'House' Battery in MV
« on: September 13, 2015, 03:24:56 pm »
I wanted to have a battery to run things off when the engine isn't running.
I have a 2000 MV.

I sourced the largest batter that would fit under the seat- barely!
I have to take the little plastic piece on the front of the seat base out and cut the carpet out.
It wouldn't fit the other direction, since the seat runner mechanism would foul the battery.

(sorry for the crappy pic)

I used an isolator that can also be overridden to use the house batt as a booster.

I wired up a USB outlet in the seat base- I haven't had time to do a good wiring job for more stuff yet.

I would like to bypass  most if not all the Cigar lighter outlets and fluorescent lamp to run on this battery.
I'll have to do some looking at the wiring diagram to figure that out.

How do you transport that OSSA bike? Can it be hanged on trailer hitch mount and carried behind the van?

-albertr

Yes,
I have a motorcycle hitch rack and the OSSA fits on great.
I don't even know it is there.
Nice to have a place to change in also.

I'll take a picture with it on.

I'd be tempted to replace our two EXCs with them ;)

If you are up this way you are welcome to give it a go.

It is a trials bike, so loads and loads of power on the bottom, and lots of flywheel.
Not much HP and not fast. Although 5th and 6th gears are pretty high so will easly do 60mph.

I weighed it and it is 75lbs lighter than my old KTM 300 XCW (both about 3/4 tank fuel)

Like night and day.
For super tight, nasty trails, especially with a lot of obstacles, it is fantastic!

I used to have a 450 EXC, and the 300 felt WAY lighter.
I also had a 640E KTM- the 450 felt (and was) way, way lighter.
The 300 felt way lighter than the 450

The difference between the 300 and the OSSA is more than the difference between the 640 and 300.
Huge.

Here is a video sample.

Very cool!

Is that a motoped?

OSSA Explorer.
It is their competition trials bike, with an extra fuel tank and a seat.
163lbs!
Semi direct fuel injection, reverse cylinder, fuel tank is font frame member, cassette gearbox and crankshaft.

Cool stuff.

I'll do another at a more interesting location- but a great staging area for some wonderful super tight Singletrack riding.

How did you get the third bolt on the drivers side for the htich in?
Drill an access hole?
Remove muffler heat Guard?

Darn, I forgot to put it on the van- and we buzzed down to the Quinault rain Forest today.
Would have made a really cool pic!

Just have to do it again- although Hurricane Ridge will be a lot quicker.

VR6 Engine tech / Idle control at limit error
« on: June 12, 2015, 05:44:27 pm »
I still have this- engine is running well, just replaced plugs/wires, air filter good, throttle body clean, no leaks I can find.

Does the idle controller (in throttle body from what I can tell) go bad very often on these?

Other places to look?

I replaced it today.
I could reach it from above- reaching one hand around the throttle body/intake and the other on the opposite side of it.
 Not too bad.

Seems to be a bit better, but I'll know more after a cold start.
Just has a bit of a growl.

I replaced all the sparking plugs/wires.
Not the most fun job- and found I had a bad radiator fan motor.

I looked when I was doing the axle, but couldn't see the tensioner from underneath.

Can you get to. It from above without removing a bunch of stuff?
(I'll look, but if you already Know...)

Interior! / 2000 Eurovan MV interior lamp
« on: June 04, 2015, 09:46:29 pm »
2000 MV

I've looked at the wiring diagrams in the Bently online manual, but I can't seem to locate it.

Wiring diagram for the fluorescent lamp inside.

I want to put it and the cigar lire outlets on a second battery.

I saw one place where it said there was a fuse doe that side lamp under the drivers seat- but maybe only the ones that have the optional coach battery?
