Looks really good, just what I would like to do.  What kind of lift do you have and what tire size?

VR6 Engine tech / Engine Operating Temperature?
« on: September 28, 2015, 08:39:26 am »
My wife and I took our fully loaded EVC out this weekend.  While going over some moderate passes in the Siskiyou Mountains my Garmin ecoRoute indicated temperatures as high as 250 degrees F.  Is that a safe operating temperature?  Also intake air temperature was well in excess of 140 degrees F.

The GoWesty struts are in.  I do not have a ratchet so I used 550 paracord as GoWesty suggested but put a loop on both ends of the cord, secure one loop on the strut, compressed the strut, secured the opposite loop and then installed.  Compressing of the strut is easier said than done.  It helps that I weigh 225 pounds.  For what it's worth the struts are made in Turkey.  Also, my original pop-top does not allow the strut to extend the whole length so the strut locking feature if of no use with my top.

Winnebago "Full Campers" / EVC sliding door window?
« on: September 23, 2015, 07:46:47 pm »
I noticed that some (maybe all) Weekender vans have an openable window on the sliding door.  Is this openable window the correct size to replace the non-openable window on the EVC?

What is the recommended procedure for adjusting the torsion bar bolts to get some additional lift?  Should the weight be off the wheel?  I have read elsewhere that 10mm of adjustment equals one inch of lift.  It's probably vehicle dependent but, how much front lift can a EuroVan Camper go?  I have a 1/2" spacer in the left rear but need about 1" lift up front to level.  What has been peoples experience?  Below is a link to the tool.

Thanks for the link, the struts are on their way and at a better price then I thought I would be paying.

I noticed that they are rated for 100 pounds each.  I wonder what those folks who have heavy items such as storage boxes, bikes and watercraft on their roofs do for struts.  They certainly have over 200 pounds weight up there.  Any thoughts?

Can anybody identify the wheels on this EVC?

Winnebago "Full Campers" / EVC Pop-Top Struts?
« on: September 20, 2015, 02:42:50 pm »
Last night at about 2 AM both my pop-top struts decided to fail.  I had noticed that the top was not being raised to the complete height over the past few camping trips and probably one had failed and was just waiting on the other.  Strange feeling waking up and not being able to move.

Anyway, where are replacements available?

My blue/orange "limited edition" sticker was in the mail box upon arrival back home from camping this weekend.  Pictures to come.

To be fair, I only looked for it on one vehicle, which was a customers van sitting right by the front door, and the stuff was coming off in large flakes.  I think it was a poor prep job and probably not done by GoWesty.

There are quite a few YouTube videos on DIY RV furnace repair.  I know years ago when my residential propane furnace would not stay lit it was the thermocouple that was at fault and a replacement fixed it.  Although there may not be a thermocouple on the RV furnace.  Good Luck!!

Winnebago "Full Campers" / Re: Inside rear view mirror?

Mines is as you described yours.  My EVC front glass is too nice to not have been replaced in the last 15 years and the installers apparently kind of buggered up the mirror side of the mount and glued the windshield side of the mount off center.  The stock mirror, in my opinion, is too large and does not provide any advantage over a smaller mirror.  I hope to get a universal 8" mirror that is more narrow than the stock and considerably cheaper at $14.
