Interior! / Re: How to remove carpet in front of EV
« on: August 09, 2016, 08:53:10 am »
Mine didn't have the small hose there when I removed my carpet.  The one bit of info I can share though is that this is the location VW ran it's condensation line for the Vanagon Behr in-dash AC system.  I wouldn't be surprised if the in-dash AC system from a '93 Eurovan would be similar.

I have a small hose that looks like a condensation run off, but I want to confirm before I put all back together.  It was clogged with dust, sludge... and I think it was backed up and leaking under carpet because of the clog.  I'm cleaning up the mess and cleaning the small tube to ensure proper flow.  Then some FatMat is going down.

Can anybody confirm that is a condensation run off? or identify it.  It is show detached in the photo... with sludge.

Nice build and photos.  You know the GoWesty calendar photo contest ends on 8/15.  Are you worried at all about the red top?  I've found with public playground equipment that the UV in CO fades the red colors faster than anything else.

Here's a few pics that might help as well:

Nice work Cole!  I am surprised you didn't paint the fiamma bike rack though (kidding).  Will you be offering the interior seat covers at some point?  Will this van also be getting the new exhaust you've worked out?  The two tone looks so much better than the solid burgundy color...

Not sure if this person will ship them, but they are selling a brand new curtain set:

I would be most interested in options 1 & 3.

For #4, "Something else", it would be great to use other colors or materials ( like 3-form panel, http://www.3-form.com/reclaim ) to customize the interior, if desired.

I upgraded to the 1200N struts and took the van to a mountain bike race this past weekend.  I thought it was worth noting that the 1200N struts can hold up the tailgate, fiamma rack, and 3 mountain bikes with no problems.

I ended up going with a Shadyboy as I like the low weight, compact look, and the black anodized case (hopefully the image posts, it is not showing up in the preview:

VW T4 Eurovan AAF ( 2.5L / 5cyl. ) Engine + Extras Price: 700
My engine is being replaced with a lower mileage one that I found. I am selling the engine that was in my van. It would be a perfect rebuild candidate and JDB Imports in Denver still rebuilds this engine. Up for offer is the following:

+ VW T4 Eurovan AAF Engine (5cyl, 2.5L) with 240k miles found in 1992-95 models
+ AAF complete wiring harness
+ AAF computer / ECU
+ AAF downpipe
+ AAF exhaust manifold

This is the complete package. No need to look for additional parts. Please contact me with questions.

It looks like that same steering wheel is for sale here on the Cavevan forum in the classifieds.

In case anyone is considering the GoWesty gas struts, the rating is not listed on their website so I asked them which ones they are selling and they said they are 445N, so about half the strength of the stock ones.  No wonder they are cheap.

These are the ones I have my eye on.  They don't raise the seat but shipping from Europe is expensive...

I have done this to both the Vanagons I have owned:
http://www.telusplanet.net/public/gary2a/rack/hatchsupport/hatchsupport.htm

However, I used copper instead of the pvc as I was worried that the pvc would eventually crack.  While I think getting the better hatch stuts makes sense, I am not sure that they will hold up 3 bikes like the link above allows.

I also like this option (see the post by busfever): http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5320380&highlight=#5320380

It looks like it fits quite nicely, especially when I am able to view it much larger on the computer than on my phone. I am interested to see why you think it isn't perfect.

FINALLY got the top totally on the van. I've installed, removed and installed this top 5 times now due to manufacturing defects. I've installed MANY of these tops before and the blue one is the only one that has been wrong. Now it is "close enough" that I'm declaring it good. (Unless Bill hates it ;))
