Backup camera install.
« on: March 09, 2018, 08:38:45 pm »
I bought one, but I’m not sure where to locate it. I could put it in the rear bumper but it’s so low I wonder about the placement? It is supposed to hook up to the backup lights so it comes on, but I’m wondering about just adding a switch on the dash (I have one blank) and manually turning it on? That way I could easily mount it to the license plate frame. I’d have to run an extra power wire along with the rca cable but it should be any harder?

I put mine in the bumper, just for ease of install.  Not the best location if you tow but its ok when the ball is removed.  I'm thinking of moving it up and integrating it itno the rear door somewhere.

I was thinking about putting it in the license plate housing, but having to route it through the tailgate seems like a pain.

So the image is OK when you are not towing? Maybe I'll put it on the bumper.
