Winnebago EVC rust issues
« on: June 06, 2015, 07:24:05 pm »
Was planning to do some electrical upgrades on 2001 EVC and pulled out Suburban furnace.
One of the vent pipes installed by Winnebago was completely rusted out.

Also shoreline electrical outlet socket needs to be replaced because of the rust.
Here's what I found after pulling the old socket out:

Cole, I remember you had some rust issues in your vans before... Did you repair it yourself or have someone to do it? I never did any bodywork repairs before, I guess I need to start learning it...

So far the rust issues I've had have been minor or isolated.

I've had some body work done by a lock shop to repair rust and paint.

Seems the older vans rust much more than the newer ones.

Looks like part of the issue is that Winnebago didn't treat the steel where they cut their holes.

I've never seen rust on the Westfalia where the top is cut.

Fixed the rusted shoreline socket, here's a short write-up:

It looks like Winnebago did a poor job on sealing all the openings they cut in EVC body.
