Interior! / AES vr6 12v valve cover
« on: April 19, 2021, 04:26:31 pm »
I plan on rebuilding my transmission soon  . I will have things appart so I would like to do the valve cover. The gaskets is not available by itself and the cover seems to be discontinued so I am looking for a used one. If you have one or know where I can get one let me know.

VR6 Engine tech / Re: 2003 VW eurovan VR6 engine dies while driving

You should hook up the vagcom and log data while driving. You need some better clues. Narrow it down a bit do some testing ie: ignition, compression, fuel... My bet is you will find a voltage fluctuation somewhere that will lead you to the problem.  Don't mislead yourself by assuming the problem is related to temperature, rain, or some other unconfirmed anomalies and don't assume a new part can't be a bad part when the evidence tells you otherwise. Good luck on your journey and keep all of us updated.

Not to bad it took about an hour and a half each side to do upper, lower, strut, tierod inner and outer, and bearings. The upper took most of the time because I did not have the proper puller i used hammer and sockets.

I would go with one grunt. Two grunts will snap off a 13mm.

Interior! / Exhaust smell in the interior 01 EV GLS
« on: June 24, 2018, 06:54:52 pm »
I have had my eurovan for a couple years now and I have looked forward to camping with it. I have had the old westie and vanagon and spent many comfortable nights in them, but I have to say the bed in the eurovan is not at all comfortable. I am disappointed maybe I am just old or spoiled by my memory foam mattress. I spent more comfortable nights sleeping in the driver's seat of a howitzer during the war using my dirty bdu's for a pillow. I have had better nights sleep in my 64 vw bug and those seats did not recline and I am 6ft 3in tall. Well I have not spent much time in the back seat until this past week. I did enjoy the table, light, and cupholder but I probably won't pull the bed out again.
