Title: OEM double-din navigation
Post by: Kafercup on February 06, 2016, 07:47:59 pm
Just in case anyone here is interested, OEM-Equipped.de has a supply of rare double-din navigation decks with EV friendly specs.  They have a shallow bottom half to clear the dash support.  http://www.oem-equipped.de/6Q0035191-Radionavigation_1

Thanks.

Has anyone discovered other aftermarket units with the same behind the dash configuration?

I'm going to give the Power Acoustik PD-714HB a try. Single din internals with a 7" face.

Not a lot of info available on the site. Here's a side view.

Looks like there are a few types. Some with navigation too.

First post - I'm Phae Phae on VWVortex.

Here are two solutions I've found:

Look at the 2nd post.

I like this radio because it has OEM quality and feel and it has bluetooth and iPod compatibility. This is what I'm going with personally.

These are the other components I intend to buy.

The second option would require custom fabrication:

The Sony MEX-GS6xxBT line of radios seem to support App Remote which allows for an iOS or Android device to be the headunit for all intensive purposes. One could push the single din farther back, put it in the double din middle console if equipped, or somewhere else hidden. Volume functions are available to the iOS or Android device, but I suppose one could always retrofit the steering wheel controls for volume control and radio selection.
