The upper plastic trim is stock.

The 1993 vans had dark grey trim.

The 1999+ vans have a nearly white trim.

All of my late vans that have been converted to poptops using 1993 donors end up with dark grey trim. I personally like it better. But I know that the interior shots from those vans can lead people to think the interior trim is always grey.

There really isn't a significant stability difference either way. We are talking a few mm here or there.

The digital climate control is computer controlled (on the CAN-BUS) and has motors to move things instead of cables. So I doubt its an easy, or possible, swap. Most people would want to go the other direction. Its a far quieter system and offers far better control. For example, with the knobs you can't control the speed of the rear fan ::)

These are 235/60/16s on those same wheels.

No lift on this van.

They will support your camper fine.

For the "Snap Dragon" van. This whole setup slides with the seat frame

No.

The battery needs relocated.

It's very simple to just move the battery itself to the back.

In a recent van I replaced the battery with a yeti 400 and mounted it under the back seat on a custom bracket that moves with the seat.

Keep in mind that MVs didn't have house batteries, only weekenders. So this top conversion van never hadn't one to begin with.

Getting closer!  :D

My wife made up all the CaveVan decals for the van. I built it....I get to brand it

The one on the hood and awning are in burgundy with reflective yellow fire.

The big white with yellow fire ones on the top....reflective of course.

The owner dropped off the curtains today. I think these are an awesome touch myself. All the old classics VW campervans are usually fitted with home made curtains by the owner. So these add the funky little personal touch.

Then I whipped out the fab tools and made a steel tray for the Goal Zero Yeti to ride under the rear seat. The Yeti is replacing the house battery in this van since we lowered the driver's seat base and added a swivel to it.

The Yeti will power all the house lights, charge ports and the Engel fridge.

The yeti slides with the seat and is totally hidden with the cover plate on the seat.

VR6 Engine tech / Re: Exhaust front pipe/down pipe
« on: August 03, 2016, 06:41:02 pm »
We just recently had this same issue on one of our 1999 12V VR6 vans.

While we had it apart we built a jig to make custom, slightly larger, mid/down pipes for the VR6.

We have also jigged the entire rest of the exhaust and should have them available soon.
