Air Conditioning
« on: May 30, 2015, 08:17:05 am »
Hey There, Great to have a proper forum!

I have a 93' weekender and i went to use the AC and it didn't come on.  I am pretty handy with fixing things but would like to know how to start the diagnostic process. It blew cold last summer!

Thanks

Teshin

There's a relay/controller under the dash-- I want to say it's labeled 120 off the top of my head. You should hear/feel it click when you turn the A/C on or the fan to speed 4.

Along with a ton of other things, the solder joints in this crack and fail. The solution is to simply touch them up with some (electronics) flux and a soldering iron.

This may not be your problem (there is a three-way pressure switch that needs to be satisfied with the actual pressures of your refrigerant) but it did fix AC for me.

I would start with a conversion kit and recharge.  If the system is empty it will not kick on.  Our 95 EVC was completely dead and would not kick on at all.  I did a recharge kit with the stop leak and it has worked fine for 2 years now.
