Title: Charging the main battery of '93 Westfalia camper
Post by: shikyo on April 02, 2017, 11:17:32 am
Hi, I have joined this forum a few minute ago.
I bought a '93 Westfalia camper Canadian version last year. It has been sitting in our backyard
since last November. The main battery and aux. batteries need charging. I just connected the
external plug to power source, hoping it will charge the main battery the same time. VW manual I have
says connecting external plug to power source will charge aux. batteries, however, it doesn't say anything
about the main battery.

The two batteries should be isolated by a solenoid when the ignition is off so I wouldn't expect the main battery to charge via this method.
