Can you share the advice you got to make the Geolander fit with the factory tray? I'm planning on getting some tires that size and that information could be quite useful!
Thanks!

Hi
I bought a second carrier that i could cut up to make mine longer, i then cut my original one in half  and laid it over the spare wheel to see how much i would need to add ,i then cut the spare carrier at the opposite end so they would overlap (for strength)when seam welded !
When the two pieces were welded together ,it is then too long,so the bend at the hinge end needs to be heated and re-bent until the original bolts line up!
Voila job done !

I also had a  spare wheel issue, where do you mount an oversize wheel tyre combo?
Swing out carriers are rare and hard to find in the uk !
The tailgate isnt strong enough unless you do a lot of metal work (plus i wouldnt be able to use my bikerack then!
Saw this vanagon syncro  @dubs in the park and thought it was a clever idea ,using a tow hitch mounted bike rack that the guy chopped and made into a spare wheel carrier that swings away to allow access to the tailgate !

But that still made itt difficult to carry my bikes, luckily i stumbled across a fellow lifted 2wd van owner on instagram who had done  a factory looking install on his, he gave me some advice on fabrication and ive ended up with a 16" steel from a vw passat thats the same width and e.t as the audi alloys with a full size geolander, mounted in the factory position ! FTW

So here it stands now ,it drives and handles pretty much as it did before in factory sports suspension ,the kit really is that good ! So pleased with it and how easy it was to install

Had to buy a proper jack though,as the standard one doesnt come close now !!

Bought some stickers from www.campervanculture.com as i think that sums up exactly what my van is to us now !

And also got these made up as a bit of a piss take !!

Hi,quite a while since my last post ,but ive been busy ! Ive been keen on lifting my van as we like to camp in out of the way places and after years of driving slammed cars on crap uk roads id had enough of that !
So after much research and advice i settled on a seikel lift kit from germany

Comes with everything you need including longer custom made eibach springs, matched bilstein dampers and all the fittings, plus great instructions light height adjustment and suspension camber, castor, toe settings
I also bought some 16" forged  audi a8 winter wheels as theyre light, strong and exactly the  offset and width i wanted ,so no rubbing or catching on anything inc the sliding door! Had them fitted up with yoko geolanders at s in 215/70/16 on seikels recommendation as the kit is tuv approved on those sizes

Mainly on ebay

These are the most powerful i can find http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/231388729865

Volkeswagen VW T4 (all models) Nitro Struts uprated tailgate gas struts - 1200N

but also found some on
http://www.justkampers.com/7d0-829-331-e-tailgate-gas-strut-t4-july-1992-april-2003-for-vehicles-with-rear-wiper.html

But think im going to buy these as they seem the best compromise on strength and cost

Filmshoot ill keep a look out for a leather steering wheel,
Id like to get hold of some of the eurovan/westy specific more unusual parts like the seat mounted cupholders, sliding door interior panel ,front door panels with storage bags  ,anything we dont get over here really

Do they just fit between the spring and platform?thats a really simple ,effective solution!
Hows it affect the ride ?i have factory sport suspension which is approx 20mm lower , so i wouldnt see much lift over stock though would i ???

Ive just refitted my fiamma bike rack but my tailgate struts cant cope with the extra weight even without a bike on !!
Ive been searching for stringer ones but am not 100% on whats  what ??
Am i correct in saying that the 770n on mine is the strength of them ? And so if i want more powerful ones i need a higher number ??
Ive found 830 ,990 and 1200 ones,im tempted to get the 1200's but dont want the tailgate to fly up when the racks not on !!
Any ideas?
Cheers

Have many of you lifted your t4 suspension and if so ,is there a kit available for t4s or have you used rear coilovers and just altered the torsion bars at the front?
Mines a 2wd btw
Im considering doing it but i cant find much info over here ,id like to do it right and it would be great to hear about the affects on handling, traction ,improvements off road ,increased fuel consumption etc etc
Also tyre sizes that dont rub would be a great help too
Cheers

More fitment pics
No poke to speak of but with hindsight an et of 40 or 45 mm would have been better if i wanted to really slam it
Although im fancying lifting it and going with some more aggresive tyres

Hi
Here are mine
BBS SR  17" x7.5 e.t 35mm
Tyres are 215/50/17
Load rated wheels and tyres for my weight camper

Van has factory sports suspension, although i have no idea what this actually entails, ive heard anything between a 15-30mm drop
but dont know for sure
I dont have any rubbing issues at all and the sliding door clears the wheel without a wedge

Hi
Think the shifter tilt is RHD specific ,as the shifters too far away on rhd vans if its vertical
Almost all manual rhd vans over here have extensions on the stick too as theyre such a p.i.t.a to reach!

Excuse the dirty van,its my daily and the weather here ia appalling at the moment!

Which wing mirror do you want to have two of ?
The short stubby (rhd/rh)
Or tall one (rhd/lh)??
Mine are heated electric and have had the bases painted at some point, which I hate
Ive recently bought some new all black manual mirrors that i intend to pull apart and mix and match with mine to create a black base /silver mirror combo
When im done ,if you want either of the spare mirror parts ill have left we can sort something out ???

Yes it 928 s.e iirc
Not mine but i work on porsche interiors as a job and i did the dash binnacle and steering wheel a few weeks ago
Sorry didnt get any external pics
