Inline 5cyl Petrol engine tech / 2.5L Tune Up Advice
« on: July 14, 2016, 10:33:29 am »
Planning on doing a tune up soon and doing plugs, wires, cap, and rotor on our 95 2.5L EVC.

It looks like the best way to get access is to remove both of the cooling fans.
Am I looking at this right? Is there a better way?
Does anyone know what the recommended spark plug gap is?

 Thanks,
 Kyle

General Discussion / Winter Camping and Skiing Colorado
« on: December 20, 2015, 06:22:28 pm »
So we have zero snow in MI and want to do some skiing so on Saturday we are going to head west.  We are bringing the EVC.
Does anyone know of any good camping spots near a good resort?  We have zero plans so far since we just decided to do this today. We have a porta potty so we can dry camp. Any ideas? We are looking for both resort and camp suggestions. It is my wife, son (7 YO grom) and myself. We are looking for a ski bumb experience.  This will be all of ours first time skiing out west and we are pumped.
Cole I know this is your backyard.
Thanks

Inline 5cyl Petrol engine tech / Temp Warning Light Blinking
« on: August 25, 2015, 07:52:39 am »
The temp warning LED occasionally starts blinking on our 95 EVC 5 Cyl. It does it right after start up. The engine is defiantly not hot, the coolant level is good, and I have confirmed both fans are working. If I cycle the engine on off it stops. I am thinking I have a sensor that is started to go. Anybody know what sensors I need to test?

Winnebago "Full Campers" / Hill Billy AC for Camping
« on: July 07, 2015, 10:32:42 am »
I am going to try to hook up an AC for camping when we are in the Southeast later this year.  I think I am going to try to do the shelf and hook it up outside the drivers window.  Does anyone have any advice or experience hooking one up?  I do not want to do anything permanent but I think we will need it out there at the end of august and beginning of September.

Winnebago "Full Campers" / Propane Line to the Passenger Side of Van
« on: June 11, 2015, 08:08:57 am »
Has any one run a line from the tank over to the passenger side for running a cook stove off of?  I really want to do this so I don't need to lug around propane cylinders when I have a tank full of probane on the van already.  Just curious if any one has done this and has any advice.

Show off your projects here! / Fixing the Cruise Control How To
« on: May 29, 2015, 12:27:21 pm »
From reading on Yahoo and other places it sounds like the Hella cruise control modules used on our vans is prone to failure.  Mine gave up the ghost about 2,300 miles from home last summer and made for a long trip back.
The symptoms that my cruise displayed was that at first it would take a couple of times for it to catch and then it would not work until I cycled the van on and off, and then it just quit working all together.

So I found out the the module on my 95 and probably most other years is above the glovebox almost at the center where the latch is.

To get to it I removed the Glove box which was held in by 8 screws inside of the box, a bolt on the side of the dash, and a connector for the lamp. I also removed the passenger side vent.  The vent fins should pop off and then there is a screw  to remove the housing.

With the glove box removed and the vent removed you can see the module through the vent hole and I reached up underneath to get at the two screws holding the module down.  I used a 1/4" ratchet with a philips bit in it to get the screws.  Then just unplug the module.

To get it fixed I sent the module to Module Master is Idaho.  It was about $75 to get it fixed.  I sent it out on a Friday and the next Friday when I got home from work it was waiting for me.  Put it all back together and it worked great.
Now I can stretch out and go in back and make a sandwich while the cruise does all the work  ;D

Hi Cole,
How about a spot to put good finds of Vans and parts from Ebay and Craigslist?

Any one have one of the cup holders that is on the floor from a later model Eurovan.  My 95 does not have one and I would love to retrofit one in there.
Thanks,

Any one headed out to the Bus Benefit at Camp Blodgett in West Olive, MI this weekend?  Mostly an older VW group but they are all very welcoming to the Eurovan crowd and we have had a great time at past events.  Good friend of ours band, Rootstand, is headlining on Sunday.
