Inline 5cyl Petrol engine tech / 2.5L Tune Up Advice
« on: July 14, 2016, 10:33:29 am »
Planning on doing a tune up soon and doing plugs, wires, cap, and rotor on our 95 2.5L EVC.

It looks like the best way to get access is to remove both of the cooling fans.
Am I looking at this right? Is there a better way?
Does anyone know what the recommended spark plug gap is?

 Thanks,
 Kyle

Thanks Bill
Any favorite spots?  Ever been to Crested Butte?
We enjoy boondocking but like to explore the small towns. A lot of people have said you can park overnight at A Basin. Is this still true?

General Discussion / Winter Camping and Skiing Colorado
« on: December 20, 2015, 06:22:28 pm »
So we have zero snow in MI and want to do some skiing so on Saturday we are going to head west.  We are bringing the EVC.
Does anyone know of any good camping spots near a good resort?  We have zero plans so far since we just decided to do this today. We have a porta potty so we can dry camp. Any ideas? We are looking for both resort and camp suggestions. It is my wife, son (7 YO grom) and myself. We are looking for a ski bumb experience.  This will be all of ours first time skiing out west and we are pumped.
Cole I know this is your backyard.
Thanks

Inline 5cyl Petrol engine tech / Temp Warning Light Blinking
« on: August 25, 2015, 07:52:39 am »
The temp warning LED occasionally starts blinking on our 95 EVC 5 Cyl. It does it right after start up. The engine is defiantly not hot, the coolant level is good, and I have confirmed both fans are working. If I cycle the engine on off it stops. I am thinking I have a sensor that is started to go. Anybody know what sensors I need to test?

I would start with a conversion kit and recharge.  If the system is empty it will not kick on.  Our 95 EVC was completely dead and would not kick on at all.  I did a recharge kit with the stop leak and it has worked fine for 2 years now.

16.5 is pretty good loaded.  I noticed my gas mileage can fluctuate quite a bit depending on conditions, speed, and load compared to other vehicles.  If I do 55 with a light load it is 22 mpg, put the Kayaks on top and load it up and it drops to around 17 at 55 and 15 at 70.  We are doing our first trip towing our boat this weekend and I am interested to see what that will do for the mileage.

Mine is a 5 speed so I think they get slightly better MPG than the auto but I think the final drive ration is the same so overall hwy should be about the same I would think.

Winnebago "Full Campers" / Hill Billy AC for Camping
« on: July 07, 2015, 10:32:42 am »
I am going to try to hook up an AC for camping when we are in the Southeast later this year.  I think I am going to try to do the shelf and hook it up outside the drivers window.  Does anyone have any advice or experience hooking one up?  I do not want to do anything permanent but I think we will need it out there at the end of august and beginning of September.

Winnebago "Full Campers" / Re: Interior Mods, Gadgets, or Additions
« on: June 11, 2015, 11:11:40 am »
Most of my mods have been to maximize storage and to keep things from moving around.  We have used various size broom clips to hold everthing from flashlights, lighters, awining accesories, etc.  You can get them that hold everything from 1/8" to 3" or probably even bigger.  We used one to hold a flashlight right above the slider so it is always there and the way I mounted it on the bulk head by the door we can aim it to become a porch light.  I will try to snap some pictures of the various hooks and clips we have used.  I have also mounted cargo nets in very places and am looking to add more.

That looks easy enough and just keep the hose with the stove.
thanks for the idea.

Winnebago "Full Campers" / Propane Line to the Passenger Side of Van
« on: June 11, 2015, 08:08:57 am »
Has any one run a line from the tank over to the passenger side for running a cook stove off of?  I really want to do this so I don't need to lug around propane cylinders when I have a tank full of probane on the van already.  Just curious if any one has done this and has any advice.

I live I the great state of Michigan where we can register anything and emissions don't exist. I have a small fleet of Frankenstein cars. The guys at the part shops always want make and model and I have to try to think what that part of the car is originally from.  I sold a Dodge Rampage and gave the guy a list of what to tell the parts store he was working on in order to get the right parts. He had 5 different yodels depending on what he was working on.

Yes like Cole said when you change the timing belt you change every ware item you can. A timing belt is one of those cheap part but lots of labour. It's not horrible on these you just need to take out the passenger wheel well and drop the tub and do most the work through the wheel well. If you take it to a shop plan $1500-2000 and most shops will not do it without changing the WP and rollers.
