Interior! / How to remove carpet in front of EV
« on: August 07, 2016, 11:55:58 am »
I am removing the front area carpet to install some sound deadener/insulation in the front of my EV. I'm not sure how to get the carpet up around the shifter and the e-brake.
Anybody have advice?

Yes, I've seen that diagram.  I looked all around the coolant reservoir & distributor & other areas.  Not sure.

But, silly question... how can I find out my engine type?

Can somebody help me out and tell me (photo or diagram or describe) where the EGR valve is?
I want to clean it out cause I didn't pass smog on a 15mph NO (in California). It is a high mileage EV so I want to take a look at the EGR valve anyway.

I swear I cannot find it... online or in the EV.

Wondering if a write up was posted on this anywhere?  I've got a bulb out in the dash and figure it would be best to replace with LEDs.

Well, here is the good news.  I guess I was a little panicked, and I wanted to stay on top of this issue since I had just gotten my EV back from the shop.  And my gas gauge fluctuates quite a bit during driving.

In reality, I ended up getting 16.5mpg with a combo of city and highway driving.  So not too bad.

In addition, I met up with a friend who is a VW genius.  We scanned and didn't find any issues.  Also, his 93 had similar values when reading engine stats.

Desperate on my 1993 EV West Weekender.  My initial fill up of my tank after some service (timing belt, water pump, serpentine, fuel system treatment, oil change) seems that I'm still getting pretty poor gas mileage.  It seems to be running fairly well, smooth.
Do you think that resetting the ECU would make any difference?  Are there any fuel system areas prone to leak?
