Oil in tube near MAF sensor
« on: September 12, 2017, 05:01:31 pm »
I have a 2001 EVC with about 60k miles on it.  It runs well and doesn't use oil.  It recently threw a P0172 code so I cleared it, changed the air filter and cleaned the MAF sensor.  The section of tube near the MAF sensor had a thin coating of engine oil in it.  I assume that this is from the PCV system.  Is this common or does it indicate a problem with the PCV system?

I discovered a lot of oil in the air intake recently.  I cleaned it out and cleaned the MAF sensor also.  I had a lean running bank 1 code as well that I later discovered was caused by a leak at the junction where the PCV meets the air intake.  I had to replace the intake pipe.  No more codes but now I am trying to diagnose a serious loss in fuel economy.  Down to 13 from 18.  Nothing else with respect to my driving habits has changed.
