EDIT: Decided to buy the double din JBL CP100 and modify the rebar to fit a double din unit. Hopefully the welder can work his magic!

Did you do this tune in the Eurovan?

Cole, thanks for the visual; I'm still learning about this stuff so it helped.

But you said a 2.0T would work so that's quite exciting to hear. So does this mean the 6 speed DSG could work in the EV? 2.0T would also mean inexpensive power upgrades.

Itsamoto,

Thanks for answering my questions.

So if a 3.2L will work - any chance of a 3.0T or 3.0TDI?

Its kind of a bummer that the best automatic for this car is the 4 speed.

I need a little bit of clarification.
1. Is it that the engine will fit, but the transmission won't?
2. Will the transmission fit but the engine won't?

Is the 2.8L VR6 is best engine that we can put in a T4?

VR6 Engine tech / Porsche engine swap? Would it fit?

I saw this thread where a few people were talking about engine swaps, some even posting swaps with the Porsche Cayenne engine. Would the 3.2L or 3.6L fit?

Would swapping for the Cayenne engine then allow using the Cayenne 6 speed automatic? Wouldn't that increase reliability and performance? It seems like an engine and transmission swap would be a better idea than servicing the 4 speed automatic.

Is there a DIY out there for the slow method of taking apart the dashboard?

Why is it perforated with holes and not solid metal to begin with? I'm a little bit hesitant to tape up that area since I don't know how the system works. With that being said - this would work great for me as the van spews out random pieces of foam.

First post - I'm Phae Phae on VWVortex.

Here are two solutions I've found:

Look at the 2nd post.

I like this radio because it has OEM quality and feel and it has bluetooth and iPod compatibility. This is what I'm going with personally.

These are the other components I intend to buy.

The second option would require custom fabrication:

The Sony MEX-GS6xxBT line of radios seem to support App Remote which allows for an iOS or Android device to be the headunit for all intensive purposes. One could push the single din farther back, put it in the double din middle console if equipped, or somewhere else hidden. Volume functions are available to the iOS or Android device, but I suppose one could always retrofit the steering wheel controls for volume control and radio selection.
